About the Author

Born in Newnham-on-Severn, Gloucestershire , Rebecca Gryspeerdt trained at
Bath Academy of Art, where she specialised in Illustration.

“I loved drawing horses as a child and knew from an early age that I would like to be an illustrator.”

Rebecca has had several picture books published (Julia MacRae Books) and has illustrated many educational books for children (OUP and Wayland Publishers).  She has produced calendars for Oxfam and many ranges of cards for various companies.

She moved to Wells twelve years ago, where she still lives with her husband and two children.

“I am drawn to the vibrant colours and patterns of Eastern European textiles and traditional costumes.  I love the romantic beauty of gypsy caravans and wanted to evoke in this book, the nostalgic atmosphere of a somewhat bygone era.”
